Multicultural Arts and Festivals Grants

In February 2011, the government launched The People of Australia – Australia's Multicultural Policy. One of the policy's key initiatives is to provide funding for Multicultural Arts and Festivals Grants (MAFG).
$125 000 per financial year has been allocated to MAFG over the four years to 2014–15.

Through the MAFG, community groups and organisations can apply for grants of up to $5000 for multicultural arts and festivals projects. These projects provide opportunities for Australians of all backgrounds to come together and experience different cultural heritages and traditions, which in turn encourages social cohesion and mutual understanding.

Funding for projects scheduled in 2011–12 has been exhausted.

Funding is available for eligible projects scheduled in 2012-13. Applications may be lodged at any time. Organisations are encouraged to apply several months prior to their project taking place.

Organisations are also encouraged to pursue multiple avenues to finance projects, including through state and territory government grants programs, sponsorships, or fundraising.
