What do Tasmanian towns offer?
To see what regional Tasmania can offer, choose a town to access key details and photos.
Tasmania, Australia's only island state is located one hour flying time south
of mainland Australia. Tasmania offers friendly people, unique wilderness, a
pleasant temperate climate, cosmopolitan cities and wonderful wine and food.
In summer, the temperature is often around 20°C on most days, with summer
nights typically lower. It is uncommon to have more than two days in a row over
30°C. Winter days are typically cool, and much colder in high regions often
with snow. Areas close to the sea are inclined to have relatively mild nights.

Where will my child go to school?
You can send your child/children to public (state government) or private (also
known as independent) schools. Most public schools are co-educational, with
girls and boys encouraged to participate equally in class. Many private schools
are either exclusively all boy or all girl schools. For more information on
government and non-government schools go to the relevant website below.
