A National Action Plan (NAP)

A National Action Plan to Build on Social Cohesion, Harmony and Security

The National Action Plan to Build on Social Cohesion, Harmony and Security (NAP) commenced in 2005-06 as a whole-of-government initiative. As of 1 July 2010, the Australian Human Rights Commission will draw on its body of work delivered under the NAP. The new program will focus on building resilience, addressing social exclusion and supporting community safety in vulnerable communities. More information about the Australian Human Rights Commission's new program is available on their website.

DIAC's active role in the NAP ceased as of 1 July 2010. DIAC continues to support culturally diverse vulnerable communities through its community engagement activities under the Diversity and Social Cohesion Program. Relevant community engagement activities are now delivered as part of the Diversity and Social Cohesion Program. More information about this program is available on the department's website.
