In 1999, the Darebin City Council reviewed its performance in meeting the needs of its culturally, religiously and linguistically diverse communities, and subsequently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Darebin Ethnic Communities' Council. The memorandum outlines the council's commitment to making its services responsive, relevant and accessible to Darebin's culturally diverse communities.
The Darebin City Council and the Darebin Ethnic Communities' Council have now signed off on their second memorandum of understanding.
