Clarence Valley Interagency Project

Goal

Ensure access to services for residents from culturally diverse backgrounds.

How?

Public forums to give support for an 'inter-agency' designed to assist people from diverse backgrounds.

The cultural diversity of Clarence Valley was not highly visible and many mainstream service providers considered migrant concerns as peripheral to their service delivery. Migrant support workers were only able to provide assistance in a limited way due to distance and time constraints. People from some cultural groups can feel particularly isolated and deprived of family, culture and support in rural areas.

The Clarence Valley Council Community Project Officer has convened a working party to organise, promote and conduct public forums to secure support for an inter-agency that could provide assistance to people from diverse cultural backgrounds to participate in and develop solutions to issues that affect them in the area.
