The Work Experience and Support Program (WESP) is coordinated by the ACT Office of Multicultural Affairs. It involves four weeks of formal office skills training and an eight-week work experience placement within the public, private or community sectors in the ACT.
It is designed to provide people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with opportunities to enhance their opportunities to access and secure sustainable employment through:
- gaining practical experience in an Australian workplace
- improving their IT, writing, office administration, and communication skills
- gaining practical job-seeking skills
- becoming prepared to enter successfully into work experience placements
- establishing a personal network of contacts for future work and training options.
