Harmony Day

Harmony Day

Goal

Provide children with an opportunity to explore other cultures through music and dance.

How?

Work with the North Western Inclusion Support Agency's (formerly SUPS) team to stage a music and dance event for three to five year olds.

To celebrate Harmony Day (21 March) council worked with the NW SUPS to organise 'An experience of dance and music from other cultures'. 200 three to five year olds were invited to experience the cultural diversity of the local region. The main idea behind the project was to expose young children to a diversity of cultures, and demonstrate the similarities and differences through music and dance. The project arose from the premise that children can learn tolerance, understanding and embrace diversity through positive experiences.
