Belonging was a community theatre and music project that provided the opportunity for diverse members of the Brimbank community to explore what it means to 'belong' – or not – to family, distinct cultural groups, a community, and to Australia. The project engaged the young and the old regardless of whether they were first, second or third generation Australians. It examined the stories of the participants' real and symbolic journeys, as well as the musical and narrative connections between cultural groups and individuals. The project culminated with a performance over three nights in March 2003.
