Indexation of the Minimum Salary Level

Client summary

Consistent with the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship’s announcement on 1 April 2009, a new legislative instrument made under regulation 1.20B and paragraph 1.20CB(1)(i) of the Migration Regulations 1994 has been registered which increases the minimum salary levels under the Subclass 457 visa program by 4.1 percent with effect from 1 July 2009.

Affected legislation

The new instrument revokes Instrument number IMMI 09/032, made on 6 May 2009.

Additional information: The Minimum Salary Levels were last indexed by 3.8 percent on 1 August 2008.

Transitional provisions: This change applies to all existing Subclass 457 visa holders currently covered by a Minimum Salary Level and affects all undecided and future nomination and visa applications.
