Client summary
From 15 October 2007 the Migration Regulations 1994 ('the Regulations') are amended to remove the mandatory requirement to evidence Subclass 834 (Permanent Resident of Norfolk Island) visas (PRNIVs). The amendments will also provide that, if evidence is given, it is to be given by a port and date stamp placed in the passport of the applicant.
This amendment to the PRNIV Regulations brings this visa into line with the discretionary evidencing requirement for all other visas.

The following provisions of the Regulations are amended:
Clause 834.711 of Schedule 2.

Transitional provisions:This amendment applies to applications for PRNIVs made on or after 15 October 2007.
Forms: No form has been amended as no form is used when applying for a PRNIV.
Instructions: PAM3 has been amended to reflect these changes.
