From 23 April 2007, the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’) will be amended to include the Republic of the Philippines to the list of countries whose armed forces members and armed forces civilian component members hold a prescribed status on the basis of the existence of a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with Australia.

Amendments have been made to the following provisions:
- Schedule 1, item 1 – Regulation 1.03, definition of SOFA forces civilian component member, paragraph (a)
- Schedule 1, item 2 – Regulation 1.03, definition of SOFA forces member, paragraph (a)
- Schedule 2, subclause 820.211(2A), note
