From 1 July 2006 the Migration Agents Regulations 1998 will be amended to remove the requirement for potential migration agents to publish a notice of their intention to register as a migration agent in an English language or non-English language newspaper.
All potential migration agents intending to register after 1 July 2006 will still be required to publish a notice of intention to register as a migration agent on the Migration Agent Registration Authority's website
Technical details
The following provisions of the Migration Agents Regulations 1998 will be amended:
- Subregulation 4(5)
- Subregulation 4(6)

Transitional arrangements: The amendments to the Migration Agents Regulations 1998 apply in relation to an application to be registered as a registered migration agent that is made on or after 1 July 2006.
