Client summary
From 1 July 2006, the Gazette Notice made under section 4 of the Immigration (Education) Act 1971 will be amended to allow holders of a Subclass 496 Skilled - Designated Area-sponsored (Provisional) (Class UZ) visa access to the Adult Migrant English Program.
From 1 July 2006, the Immigration (Education) Regulations 1992 will be amended to:
- waive the enrolment fee for prescribed English language courses for holders of a Subclass 496 Skilled - Designated Area-sponsored (Provisional) (Class UZ) visa; and
- increase the fee for prescribed English courses to reflect increases in the consumer price index.

Effect on delegations: A new Gazette Notice made under subparagraphs 4(b)(ii) and 4(c)(ii) of the Immigration (Education) Act 1971 will prescribe the new Subclass 496 Skilled - Designated Area-sponsored (Provisional) (Class UZ) visa.
