Amendments to Subclass 459 - Sponsored Business Visitor Visa

Client summary
From 1 July 2006, the Migration Regulations 1994 ('the Regulations') will be amended to:
- enable holders of subclass 459 (Sponsored Business Visitor) visas to enter Australia on 1 or more occasions during the validity of their visas
- provide
for imposition of discretionary visa conditions 8503 (no further stay)
and 8531 (must not remain beyond the visa period)
and - provide for certain applications for subclass 459 visas to have a nil Visa Application Charge (VAC).

Additional information: Nil
Transitional arrangements: These amendments apply to all visa applications made on or after 1 July 2006 or made but not finally determined by 1 July 2006.
Forms: Applicants will continue to use Form 1238. Sponsors will continue to use Form 1235. Both forms have been updated to reflect the changes to the Regulations.
Instructions: PAM3 PAM 3 Policy Guidelines will be amended to reflect these changes.

Effect on systems: Changes to ICSE will be implemented to allow 459 visa applications to be processed under the new arrangements.
