Prescribed Number of Migration Review Tribunal and Refugee Review Tribunal Members

Client summary
From 1 July 2006, the Migration Regulations 1994 ('the Regulations') will be amended to increase the prescribed number of members permitted to be appointed to the Migration Review Tribunal (MRT) and Refugee Review Tribunal (RRT), so as to allow existing Tribunal members to be cross-appointed and newly recruited members to be appointed to both Tribunals without exceeding the prescribed number.
The prescribed maximum number of members (other than the Principal or Senior Members) that may be appointed to the MRT will increase from 90 to 110.
The prescribed maximum number of Senior Members and Members that may be appointed to the RRT will increase from 100 to 120.
