From 1 July 2005, immigration law relating to the Skilled Independent Regional (SIR) (Provisional) (Class UX) visa will be amended to make 10 points available to applicants who obtain sponsorship from a state or territory government.
Technical details
Additional information: Schedule 6A (the points test) will be amended to support these changes.
Transitional arrangements: The change will affect all SIR visa applications made on or after 1 July 2005 and those SIR visa applications made prior to 1 July 2005 that have not yet been assessed.
Forms: 47SK, 1119, 1244.
Instructions: PAM3 guidelines will be amended to reflect these changes.
Effect on delegations: Nil.
Effect on systems: ICSE will be amended to reflect the legislative amendments with effect from 1 July 2005.
