Client summary
From 1 December 2003, immigration law has been amended to give effect to changes to the Student visa regulations.
The major Student visa reforms introduced in July 2001 have been reviewed in close consultation with industry and relevant agencies.
A number of the changes are as a result of the recommendations of the review of the 2001 Student visa reforms.

Transitional arrangements: the changes will apply to applications made on or after 1 December 2003.
Forms: forms 157A and 1160i have been amended to reflect the changes.
Instructions: PAM3 has been amended to reflect the changes.
Effect on delegations: nil.
Effect on systems: systems have been amended to give effect to altered work rights for family members of masters and doctorate students and mandatory imposition of condition 8516.
