From 1 November 2003, immigration law is amended to:
- remove the distinction between 'established' and 'non-established' retirement visa holders by having consistent requirements for all applicants seeking a second or subsequent 410 visa.
Technical details
Additional information: for applicants seeking their subsequent (second or more) 410 visa:
- the health criterion will become a requirement to undergo an examination for the purpose of detecting tuberculosis or other public health risks. No health condition will result in a failure against this criterion and visa holders will not be required to depart Australia; and
- the condition that applicants have maintained adequate arrangements for health insurance will apply to all.

Transitional arrangements: the proposed legislation changes to the subclass 410 visa are to apply to all 410 visa applications made on or after 1 November 2003.
Forms: updated information forms will be available from 1 November 2003 in hard copy and on this website. No additional new forms have been designed for subclass 410 use.
