Online Health (eHealth)

On this page

The department uses an online health system known as eHealth to conduct and record health examinations for visa applicants. The eHealth system is a web-based program that allows panel clinics to record the health assessments of applicants online.

eHealth is being used by over 100 panel clinics in 16 different countries for health assessments of visa applications for a number of temporary visa categories lodged through eVisa.

How does eHealth work?

The assessment and results recorded by the panel clinics, including the client's photo, digital x-ray and report(s) are transmitted electronically to the department for processing. Most results are then assessed by the Health Operations Centre within 48 hours of the panel doctor and panel radiologist submitting their findings. Using online health processing as part of lodging a visa application results in a significant reduction in the time it takes to assess a visa applicant against Australia's visa health requirement.

How to use eHealth

After submitting an eligible eVisa application and proceeding to the 'Download health form(s)' screen, you will be presented with a list of eHealth clinics for the client's chest x-ray and or medical examination. If any clinics are selected from this list then the medical history questions will need to be completed online.
Note: There is no requirement to download and complete paper health assessment forms.

Once all medical history questions have been completed and submitted online, an examination referral letter will be generated that you must take to your selected clinic(s).

If none of the eHealth eligible panel clinics are convenient, then it is possible to opt for manual health processing. For manual health processing you are required to download and print EH160 and/or EH26 forms and may then visit any of our panel clinics.

These steps can also be completed after the visa has been lodged by accessing your visa application on the 'Query Application Status' page of our website
