Client Reference Numbers
When a migration agent lodges a visa application and the agent provides the department with a client reference number the department will endeavour to include this client reference number as part of correspondence with the agent. While every attempt is made to ensure that this reference number is part of the department's correspondence to migration agents this will not always occur due to current departmental system limitations and human error.
The department is seeking system changes via a 'third parties' portal to ensure
that departmental systems can capture client reference numbers provided by
migration agents. As this portal is part of the large scale system changes
known as Systems for People, the department's business transformation
programme, which has arisen out of the Palmer and Comrie Reports, it will be
some time before these system improvements can be realised.

In the interim please be patient if the client reference number provided to the department is omitted in departmental correspondence. Every effort is made to ensure it is included but it can at times be overlooked.
