New CEO and Deputy CEO of the Office of the MARA
The Secretary of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship has announced the appointment of the new CEO and Deputy CEO of the Office of the MARA.
New CEO – Ms Christine Sykes
Ms Christine Sykes has been appointed CEO of the Office of the MARA. As the CEO, Ms Sykes will have overall responsibility for ensuring that the Office of the MARA achieves its objective of regulating the activities of the Australian migration advice profession in accordance with its functions under the Migration Act 1958, in order to provide users of migration advice services with appropriate protection and assurance. Ms Sykes will also be the principal liaison point with the Office of the MARA's Advisory Board, to be appointed by the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship.
New Deputy CEO – Mr Stephen Wood
Mr Stephen Wood has been appointed as the Deputy CEO of the Office of the MARA. As Deputy CEO, Mr Wood will be primarily responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Office.
Effective 1 July 2009
Ms Sykes and Mr Wood will formally move into their new roles from 1 July 2009, when the Office of the MARA officially assumes the MARA functions.
