Union Outreach Officers
Union Outreach Officers (UOOs) are out-posted to the national offices of major trade unions to help them to better understand departmental products, policies and processes.
Union Outreach Officer role
UOOs support better understanding of departmental products, policies and processes among union organisers, delegates and members. The outreach role facilitates productive and informed communication between DIAC and the unions. It provides a mechanism not only to inform temporary overseas workers of their rights and the obligations of their employer sponsors but also to inform government about gaps in programs, unintended policy outcomes and emerging areas of concern.
