Waiver Arrangements of the English Language Test Requirement for Schools Sector Applicants
Unless the English language test requirement is waived, Assessment Level 4 school students aged 16 years or over who apply outside Australia for a Student visa are required to provide the results of one of the following specified English language tests for Student visa application purposes:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) test (also known as Certificate in Advanced English)
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic
- Occupational English Test (OET).
The existing arrangements for secondary school students accessing the waiver will continue to apply until further notice.
See: Schools Sector English Proficiency Test Requirement
The department will be writing to Schools sector education providers to seek information from them about additional nominated agents they want to use in the next year of the waiver provisions. In the interim, providers may continue to use the agents they have previously nominated. Agents' eligibility for continued 'waiver ready' status will be determined according to the same benchmarks as in previous years.
