All fees and charges are in Australian dollars (AUD).

The following table lists the application charges for appeal against certain Migration Act decisions.

Type of Review Charge
Migration Review Tribunal (MRT)
Fifty per cent of charges may be waived in cases of severe financial hardship of the review applicant.
Fifty per cent of the charge will be refunded if:
  • the decision is favourable
    or
  • the review application was invalid.

Refugee Review Tribunal (RRT) No charge
RRT Post-decision fee
Charge is payable by unsuccessful RRT review applicants.
Charge will be refunded if:
  • a Protection visa is later granted
    or
  • the Minister intervenes under s.417 of the Migration Act.

Review by Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT)
  • If you have paid a full application fee and the application is resolved in your favour, most of it will be refunded. There is no refund if you paid the reduced application fee.
