All fees and charges are listed in Australian dollars (AUD). If you are lodging outside Australia, payment must be in the currency accepted by the Australian High Commission, Embassy or Consulate, where the application is being lodged.

Important: Visa Application Charges are reviewed on 1 July each year, which may increase the cost of a visa, however they may be adjusted at any time.
The 1st instalment of the Visa Application Charge must accompany your application and is generally not refunded if the application is unsuccessful.
Only one 1st instalment of the Visa Application Charge is payable for the entire family unit included in your application. If a separate application is made by them at a later date, a separate 1st instalment of the Visa Application Charge is payable.
Before your visa is granted, you must pay the 2nd instalment of the Visa Application Charge for each person included on the application.
Note: The Migrant Health Service Charge (MHSC) payment applies to any unfinalised visa applications lodged prior to 1 May 1997. Applications lodged on or after 1 May 1997 are subject to the Visa Application Charge.

Migrant Health Services Charge
The Migrant Health Services Charge (MHSC) is governed by the Migration (Health Services) Charges Act 1991 and applies to any unfinalised visa application lodged prior to 1 May 1997. The MHSC is charged for each applicant included in the visa application. Applications lodged on or after 1 May 1997 are subject to a Visa Application Charge.
The MHSC is charged for each applicant (including children) included in the visa application and is indexed on 21 August each year.
Indexation is based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. According to the Act, the MHSC index is calculated by dividing the CPI for the March quarter of the relevant year by the CPI for the corresponding period in the previous year. The visa applicant is required to pay the MHSC amount as at the date of the MHSC liability notification letter.
The table below lists the MHSC for the periods 21 August 2010 to 20 August 2011 and 21 August 2011 to 20 August 2012.
