Overview
Outcome 2: Promote a society which values Australian citizenship, appreciates cultural diversity, and enables migrants to participate equitably
There are four outputs under Outcome 2
Output 2.1 - Settlement services
Output 2.2 - Translating and interpreting service
Output 2.3 - Australian citizenship
Output 2.4 - Promoting the benefits of cultural diversity.
Activities under this outcome include:
- Providing settlement services, including adult English language training, translating, and interpreting services
- promoting the value of Australian citizenship and the benefits of cultural diversity
- implementing the government's multicultural policy and Living in Harmony initiatives.
Under the outcome we also developed the National Action Plan to Build on Social Cohesion, Harmony and Security (NAP), in consultation with the community and with state and territory government agencies. During the year we initiated work related to the NAP.
We foster a society which values Australian citizenship, appreciates diversity, and enables migrants and refugees to participate equitably in Australia's social, economic, cultural, and political life.
