2.4.1 Appreciating cultural diversity

Quality: Satisfaction of Minister, and
the Council for Multicultural Australia, with:
- provision of policy advice and coordination on cultural diversity;
- promotion of community harmony;- management of community relations
issues; and
- application of diversity principles.
Quantity:
- Policy submissions and reports provided to Minister and Council
as required.
- 100 grants, 23 partnerships, and 5 projects managed.
- Liaison maintained with some 500 community organisations nationally.
- Annual Charter Report; one major conference managed.

- Positive feedback received on provision of advice and support.
- 97% of 149 submissions and briefs and 97% of 309 replies were
finalised within the set timeline.
- 92 grants, 24 partnerships and 6 projects were managed during
the year.
- Community Liaison Officers prepared 480 briefs and speech notes
for 311 community functions attended by the Minister or his representatives.
Over 4,000 community consultations were conducted regarding community
relations issues.
- The 2000 Access and Equity Annual Report was tabled in Parliament
in December 2000. The department conducted the Productive Diversity
conference 21st Century Business: Delivering the Diversity
Dividend in November 2000.
