Sub-program 7.1: Immigration Review Tribunal (IRT)
Objective
To provide independent merits review of certain migration, temporary residence and visitor visa decisions to ensure that these comply with the requirements of administrative law and in accordance with the Tribunal's statutory objective of providing a mechanism of review which is 'fair, just, economical, informal and quick'.
Description
The IRT provides its own annual report to the Parliament through the Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. Details about its performance may be found in that report.
