Environmental Policy
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) is serious about its concern for the environment, seeking to make efficient use of energy, water, paper and procurement of materials to reduce the direct environmental impact of our operations.
DIAC's environmental policy will:
- Continually review and improve our environmental performance by setting objectives and targets appropriate to the nature, scale and impact of our operations.
- Use processes, practices, techniques, materials, products, services and/or energy to avoid, reduce or control the creation, emission or discharge of any type of pollutant or waste in order to reduce adverse environmental impacts.
- Comply with applicable Australian Government State and Territory environmental legislation, regulations, policies, initiatives and other requirements which relate to DIAC's environmental aspects.
DIAC will continually develop, review and monitor our environmental aspects to set objectives and targets in conjunction with legal frameworks.
DIAC will communicate with all employees, clients, suppliers and other interested parties its Environmental Management System (EMS) and environmental performance.
DIAC will provide appropriate resources and environmental training commensurate with the roles and responsibilities of staff.
DIAC will make its environmental policy available to the public on its website.
