2007 Regulatory Plan
This plan was published in August 2007 and contains details of amendments to business regulation that were made by the portfolio during the 2006/07 financial year, and changes to which have taken effect in, or are proposed for, the 2007/08 financial year.

| Description of issue | The Act makes amendments to the Migration Act 1958 to impose sanctions on employers who recruit illegal workers. |
| Consultation opportunities | DIAC has consulted with peak industry and employer bodies groups since 1999, and is engaging in an information campaign with key stakeholders to ensure they are aware of obligations under the proposed legislation. |

| Description of issue | Amendments to the Migration Act 1958 and Migration Regulations 1994 to create and implement the new maritime crew visa for crew (including supernumerary crew) of non-military ships and their spouses and dependent children. |
| Consultation opportunities | An industry-government working group was established in early 2006 involving the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) and Shipping Australia Limited to inform the development of the new MCV. In addition, DIAC also consulted with the Australian Shipowners’ Association, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and the Maritime Union of Australia to outline the proposed MCV arrangements. |
