The Citizenship by Conferral Application Process
Before your citizenship appointment:
You can expect us to:
- provide you with a Transaction Reference Number (TRN) if you apply for citizenship online through our website

provide access to your payment information and the status of your application through the online citizenship inquiry facility if you apply for citizenship online through our website

acknowledge your application within seven (7) working days of receipt if you apply for citizenship by post and include in the acknowledgement a reference number and contact details for our Citizenship Information Line

provide you with a receipt or receipt number if you pay a fee or charge when you apply for citizenship in person

send a confirmation letter within two (2) working days of the citizenship appointment being made

aim to see you within 10 minutes of the time of your citizenship appointment.
We expect you to:

appreciate that it is the role of our client service staff to help you find relevant information, not to provide you with advice or counselling on your eligibility

obtain all relevant information and supporting documents so you can lodge a complete application

let us know as soon as possible if you cannot come to an appointment we have made with you
- cancel an appointment if no longer required.
