Recruitment Process

A face-to-face interview will be conducted by a two member panel in the applicant’s home state/territory and applicants will be asked to complete a work sample assessment. The interview will be behavioural focused and both the interview and the work sample assessment should take less than one and a half hours. Applicants will need to bring a copy of their academic transcript, proof of Australian Citizenship and two passport sized photographs. For overseas applicants or applicants from regional Australia interviews will be conducted by telephone.

Applicants successful in gaining an offer for a position in the 2009 DIAC Graduate Development Program will receive a telephone call followed by formal paperwork sometime in August. This paperwork consists of a security package and necessary employment documentation which must be completed. 2009 graduates commence employment with the department in February and the department will provide a Relocation Assistance subject to individual circumstances.
