Visitor visa online applications

There are three visas that you can apply for online to visit Australia for tourism or business visitor activities:

Tourism includes holidays, recreation and seeing family and or friends.

Business visitor activities may include attending a conference, negotiation or an exploratory business visit.

Note: If you intend to visit for medical treatment or to transit through Australia, you should not apply for a Visitor visa.

If you intend to visit for medical treatment you will need to apply for Medical Treatment visa (subclass 602).

To transit through Australia you will need to apply for a Transit visa (subclass 771).

Electronic Travel Authority

To apply for an ETA online you must be outside Australia and hold a valid passport from a country in the table below.

  • Brunei
  • Canada
  • Hong Kong (SAR of China)
  • Japan
  • Malaysia
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • United States.

Note: If you are not eligible to apply online for an ETA, you might still be eligible to apply through an immigration office, travel agent, airline or specialist service provider.

eVisitor visa

To apply for an eVisitor visa (subclass 651) you must be outside Australia and hold a passport from a country in the table below.

Note: You are not eligible to apply for the eVisitor if your only passport is a British National Overseas, British Dependent Territories Citizen, British Overseas Citizen, British Protected Person or British Subject passport.​​​​

Visitor visa

To apply for a Visitor visa (subclass 600) you must hold a valid passport from a country in the table below.
