Changes to online lodgement services
In early December 2013, we will make changes to our online visa lodgement services. The changes will affect all current, saved, unsubmitted online applications. If you have an unsubmitted visa application when the changes are made, you will not be able to retrieve it and you will have to start again.
If you do not want to lose your saved online visa application, we encourage you to submit it before 6 December.
Please ensure you meet all the relevant criteria before submitting your visa application.
VEVO is a free online service that gives visa holders and registered Australian organisations access to visa entitlements and status information 24 hours a day.
Organisation account holders now have the ability to self-serve password resets and retrieve forgotten usenames and passwords. For detailed information on using VEVO.

Registered Australian organisations include; Registered Migration Agents (RMAs), employers, labour suppliers, education providers, financial institutions and government agencies. These organisations use VEVO to check the status or entitlements of visa holders applying for: visas; work; study; licenses; and access to government services such as Medicare.
See: VEVO Client Groups and Categories
Australian based organisations that have not registered to use VEVO, can register at any time by completing the online registration form. Once registered a VEVO account will never expire. Organisations based outside Australia and foreign governments in Australia cannot register for VEVO.
See: Register for VEVO
To register, you must have an Australian Business Number (ABN). In addition:
- RMAs will need to provide their Migration Agent Registration Number (MARN). RMAs operating outside Australia will be provided instructions on the steps to take if they wish to register to use VEVO.
- Education institutions should provide their Commonwealth Register for Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) number.
For visa holders, VEVO means there is no need to have a visa label in your passport—VEVO confirms your current visa details and entitlements. Visa holders do not need to register to use VEVO. You can check the progress of your visa or citizenship application using the Query Application Status.
