Unless otherwise specified, all phone numbers listed here are available from 8:30am to 4:30pm (local time), Monday to Friday, except public holidays​​. Outside of these hours you will be able to access limited information.

General enquiries

This number is only available if you are phoning from in Australia. If you are outside Australia and want to make an enquiry please contact the relevant Australian Immigration office overseas.

  • obtain general information on all temporary and permanent visa categories (including visitors, students, family migration, temporary business visas and refugee and humanitarian applications)
  • make an appointment to lodge a Protection Visa application or to provide your biometrics

Visa holders and registered Australian organisations can check a person's visa status, entitlements and conditions online using the Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO). VEVO provides information on the codes used to explain a persons conditions. Password resets can also be completed online through VEVO.

Phone this number to advise us about a person working or living illegally in Australia or committing fraud against us either in a visa or citizenship application or in any other way.

Our online dob-in form is available 24 hours a day, to assist you in reporting your allegation.

People who are deaf, or have a hearing or speech impairment

If you are deaf, or have a hearing impairment or speech impairment, you can contact us through the National Relay Service (NRS)
